Post-Divorce Modifications and Enforcement of Orders

• Modifications: Generally, a court will not alter divorce orders without showing a substantial change in circumstances to justify the change. Examples of substantial changes in circumstances can include job changes, required relocations, serious illnesses and injuries, and increased needs of a child. We represent clients petitioning for divorce modifications and those contesting modifications.
• Enforcement: In some cases, there has not been a substantial change in circumstances, yet one of the two parties is failing to live up to the provisions in the divorce order. Nonpayment of child support and spousal support, as well as breaking the provisions of the visitation schedule, are common examples. We represent clients petition the court for enforcement of divorce provisions.
